George Andreou

Associate Professor

George Andreou is Associate Professor in the School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He studied political science and international relations at the University of Athens and at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and received his PhD in political science and public administration from the University of Athens (2001). He has also taught at the University of Athens, the University of Crete, the University of the Peloponnese and the National School of Public Administration (Greece). His research interests include public policy analysis, the policies of the European Union and cohesion policy (regional/structural policy) in particular, the Europeanisation of public policies in the EU and the relations between Greece and the EU.

He has published European governance at a time of multiple crises (Kritiki, Athens 2022), The new institutionalist aporach of politics (Kritiki, Athens 2018), The New Cohesion Policy of the EU and Greece with P. Liargovas (Papazisis, Athens 2007) and various articles in Greek and international academic journals; he has also contributed to several collective volumes (in Greek and English). He also edited the special issue of the Greek Political Science Review, Institutions, Public policies and Reforms in Greece (vol. 40, July 2013) and co-edited the book Cohesion Policy and Multi-level Governance in South East Europe (Routledge, Οxon 2011).

Eftyhia Teperoglou

Assistant Professor

Eftichia Teperoglou is Associate Professor at the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Her main scientific field is on Political and Electoral Sociology. She studied Political Science and History at Panteion University in Athens and completed her PhD thesis at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens. From 2009 to 2014 she had a research position at the Centre for European Social Research (MZES) at the University of Mannheim, Germany, and for three years she conducted postdoctoral research at the Centre for Sociological Studies and Research of the University Institute of Lisbon (CIES-IUL). He has also worked for several years in research projects at the National Centre for Social Research (NCSR). She represents Greece in the most important European and global research networks for the study of elections and political elites. Her research interests focus on electoral and political behaviour, comparative political analysis, political representation, Euroscepticism and research methodology. Her main publications include the monograph The other "national" elections. Analysing the European Elections in Greece 1981-2014 (Papazisis, International and European Politics series, Athens 2016) and the editing (with Hermann Schmitt) of the edited volume The 2014 European Parliament Elections in Southern Europe: still Second Order or Critical Contests?, South European Society and Politics series, Routledge, 2016.She has published in international journals and edited volumes. Since October 2022 she is the scientific coordinator of the Erasmus Module on "The transformative impact of EU integration in Southern Europe: electoral politics, institutions and society" (EUPolSur). Since March 2022 she coordinates the Greek part of the European Horizon project "Towards a new era of representative democracy – Activating European citizens' trust in times of crises and polarization" (ActEU).

Lina Papadopoulou

Professor

Triantafyllia Lina Papadopoulou is a Professor of Constitutional Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Greece, holder of a Jean Monnet Chair for “European Constitutional Law and Culture”, and previously Academic Co-ordinator of the AUTh Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on “European Constitutionalism and Religion(s)” (2018-22). Lina studied Law at AUTh (Bachelor 1993), Trier (LLM 1994) and Hannover (PhD 1998) as well as Political Theory at the London School of Economics (LSE, MSc 1999). She was a Post-doc ‘Marie Curie’ Fellow at the LSE (2000 and 2001) and AUTh (2001/02) and co- ordinator οφ multiple projects of funded research at AUTH. Her areas of expertise include national, comparative and European constitutional issues and human rights, focusing on democracy and political parties, economy and the constitution, equality and non- discrimination, religion and the state, and bioethical issues. Her publications include monographs, handbooks as well as approx. 100 articles in Greek, English and German.

Nikolaos Gaitenidis

Researcher

Nikos Gaitenidis is a graduate of the Department of International and European, Political and Economic Studies of the University of Macedonia. He completed postgraduate studies in European Law at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He received his doctorate degree in 2015 from the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia. He was an associate of the Centre of International and European Economic Law, responsible for the implementation of several research and institution building programs (2016 – 2021). He has also provided scientific services for the Greek Ministry of Justice (2020) and the Labor Institute of GSEE (2021 – 2023). He has managed successfully and participated as an expert in several European funded
projects for many academic and research institutions (Erasmus+, Jean Monnet, JUSTICE, Civil Justice, Europeaid, Twinning etc.). He had taught courses on human rights and EU studies at the University of Macedonia, Panteion University, the Democretus University and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research interests and publications focus on the protection of human rights in Europe, social and cultural rights, equality and anti- discrimination policies, European Union integration and minority protection.

Sofia Magopoulou

Project Support

ΜΑ in Governance and Regional Development (AUTH) and undergraduate studies in Political Sciences (AUTH). Her research interests include but are not limited to local and regional governance, youth representation in policy making and climate change. She currently works as an Assistant Project Manager in Horizon Europe Projects, specifically related to Cluster 2: Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society. She has been an active volunteer in the European Youth Parliament since 2013 and she has been awarded as an active volunteer from the European Parliament for her involvement in the #thistimeimvoting campaign for the European Parliament elections in 2019.

Antonios Parasoglou

Project Support

Antonios Parasoglou is a Political Scientist. He graduated in 2021 from the Department of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while he is currently completing his Master’s degree in the field of Governance and Regional Development at the same department. He has been working in the field of merchant shipping since 2023, while since the same year he has been supporting administratively and scientifically the Joint English-speaking Master Program “European Studies” (Double Degree Master Program) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in cooperation with the University of Turin. He is a founding member of the Municipal Youth Council of Thessaloniki and its Treasurer for the years 2020-2021, with significant activity in the local communities of the city. He currently holds the position of General Secretary of the Alumni Association of the Thessaloniki Municipal Youth Council.
